1. For the readers, who are you, what do you do, and what is your current side project?
I am an application engineer who loves painting, crafts and DIY projects! My current side project is preparing for MBA – I am taking the GMAT soon.
2. Talk to me about GMAT. Why do you want to get an MBA? What fears do you have around GMAT and how are you working on conquering them?
I want to get an MBA because I want to change my career path. I do not want to pursue my career in the technical field. My interests lie in management and I think I will do a better job at it than my current job.
My fear about GMAT is that I might not score enough. I am working on it by giving frequent MOCKS.
[Why are you afraid that you won’t score enough? What is a “good enough” score? How did you realize that your interests lay in management?]
I am not afraid as such, I just need practice. A good enough score would be above 700. Because I was given small [management-related] tasks by my manager, for which I got appreciation. I also never really wanted to be an engineer.
3. Talk to me about DIY and crafts. What excites you about DIY culture and why? Why do you do it? What is the latest thing you’re working on?
DIY projects are exciting because i do everything from getting the materials needed to prepare something new as a gift for my loved ones. The smile on their face when I give them as a surprise is why I love doing it for my friends.
I have not been working on anything recently because all my weekends and free time go on studying. Once I will clear this, I will get back to it 🙂
4. Okay, so since you’re still finding your self and your passions – if you could give 16-year old Rakshitha 3 pieces of advice, what would they be?
- Girlll, go out and enjoy yourself. Books aren’t so important. Go out with friends and live your life.
- Change your career. Don’t take science, take architecture. That is what you are interested in.
- Be a little stylish and trendy.
5. Great. Finally, what can you leave the audience with? What should they explore next?
I would just like the audience to follow what they like and not do engineering and join software just because parents force them. Please explore your skills and break some rules. It is those moments you remember!
I do not have anything to advertise but I would just like to say – be kind and share a part of your earning with the needy. Buy them food and help them.
